The shortlist for the 2014 QWF Awards was announced this morning, and both Sina Queyras (MxT) and Jon Paul Fiorentino (Needs Improvement) are nominated for the A.M. Klein Prize for Poetry. Congratulations, Sina and JP!

It has been a terribly exciting week of award nominations at the old Coach House! This morning, the Canada Council for the Arts announced the 2014 Governor General's Literary Award finalists, and we're thrilled to say that Sean Dixon was nominated for his play A God in Need of Help, as was Rhonda Mullins for her translation of Élise Turcotte's Guyana

Congratulations, Sean! The short list for the Playwrights Guild of Canada’s Carol Bolt Award, as well as the Stage West Pechet Family Comedy & Musical Awards were released September 29th by their respective juries, and he has been nominated for his provocative new play, A God in Need of Help

A big week for the little guys as Rogers Writers’ Trust Prize for Fiction selects small-press gems

Congratulations, André! His gorgeous novel, Pastoralis a finalist for the esteemed Rogers Writers Trust Fiction Prize.

The Writers’ Trust of Canada revealed this morning the finalists for two major prizes for excellence in Canadian fiction: the Rogers Writers’ Trust Fiction Prize and the Writers’ Trust/McClelland and Stewart Journey Prize. The announcement was made at Ben McNally Books.

The Association of Book Publishers of British Columbia (ABPBC) produces a collection of poetry car cards and transit shelter ads each year, which feature the work of BC-authored and Canadian-published poets. Big congrats to Jen!

September 21, 2014 — Coach House is saddened by the news that playwright and actor Linda Griffiths died early Sunday morning in Toronto, from cancer. She was 60 years old.

Publishers Weekly has published a gorgeous full-page Signature review of Lisa Robertson's Cinema of the Present, calling the book "a magnificent testament to the eroticism of thought."
