Shawn Micallef's Stroll City Returns to Toronto
Pattison Onestop, Coach House Books and Art for Commuters (A4C) have teamed up for a third year and are pleased to announce the return of the popular city-wide, interactive media-art project, Stroll City from June 4 to June 24, 2012 on the network of Pattison Onestop’s TTC subway platform screens throughout Toronto.
Starting June 4, Shawn Micallef – Spacing editor and author of Stroll: Psychogeographic Walking Tours of Toronto – will once again tweet his discoveries at the Twitter handle @StrollCity (in addition to his personal feed), and invites all Torontonians to respond with comments, replies and their own findings. Share your on-the-spot discoveries and observations @StrollCity, which will then appear as part of the rotating 30-second spot every 10 minutes throughout the day on the TTC platform screens in over 60 stations across Toronto.
‘I hope people who read the tweets will simply get excited about the city and start paying attention to it in whatever way they want,’ says Micallef, ‘When we’re in our routines, especially on transit, where we’re often late for work or thinking about where we’re going, we tend not to pay attention to what’s around us. Hopefully this gets people looking and thinking.’
