Shawn Micallef on BBC World Service
'Mike Williams: Do you like cities?
Shawn Micallef: I love them. I've been obsessed with them since I was a little kid ... Part of our Canadian identity is always attached to the land: the prairies or the Rocky Mountains, which in Toronto we're far away from. Or Niagara Falls, which is just an hours drive away. But all that stuff, all that nature, I didn't have a thing to do with it. I was born here, my ancestors moved here. Whereas cities are these wonderful human creations. Everything we see around us is a human invention, sort of like a wonderful work of engineering slash art.'
