Jon Paul Fiorentino in Torontoist
Jon Paul Fiorentino spoke to Erin Balser of Torontoist about his creative process, his next novel and Indexical Elegies, his brand new book of poetry.
'Torontoist: Can you give us your one-sentence pitch for the new collection, Indexical Elegies?
JPF: Indexical Elegies is my latest collection—it deals with anxieties of loss, influence, geography.
Torontoist: How long have you been working on this book? Has the process differed from previous projects?
JPF: These poems have been collected from 2006 (after my dear friend and mentor, Robert Allen, passed away) to early 2010. The process has been slower, less frenetic, more measured and contemplative. It’s without a doubt my most emotionally and artistically mature book. It is, however, highly emotional writing, I think.'
