Heather Birrell nominated for the 2006 Journey Prize

Heather Birrell has been shortlisted for The Writers' Trust of Canada / McClelland & Stewart Journey Prize for her short story, 'BriannaSusannaAlana', published in The New Quarterly. The Journey Prize is an annual award of $10,000 given to the best short story by a new ane developing writer that had its first publication in a Canadian literary journal the preceding year. Birrell competes for the prize with fellow writers Lee Henderson ('Conjugation') and Martin West ('Cretacea').<!--newline--><!--newline-->The Journey Prize winner is announced March 7, 2007.
