Globe and Mail runs My Winnipeg excerpt

The Saturday, May 9, edition of the Globe Books section featured a generous excerpt from the interview between Guy Maddin and Michael Ondaatje in My Winnipeg.

From the interview:

GM: When I first received the commission from the Documentary Channel to make the movie, I was put in mind of a number of things: of travelogues that I used to go to with my aunt Lil as a child – they were delightful, and even as a child I knew they were corny and horrible, but I also loved them un-ironically. I just loved being with my aunt in a theatre packed full of matrons. And then as a young adult I was aware of those city symphony movies like Berlin's [Die Sinfonie der Grosstadt] and Man With a Movie Camera and a few others...
