The Believer interviews Christian Bök
The June 2009 issue of The Believer features an interview with Christian Bök (Eunoia) by Jonathan Ball. Discussing the self-imposed limits of Eunoia, Bök says he wanted to '[underline] the versatility of language itself, showing that despite any set of constraints upon it, despite censorship, for example, language can always find a way to prevail against these obstacles.' He also discusses his new project — to encode poetry into the genetic sequence of a bacteria and thus write a literally living poem so robust it will outlast human civilization!
