Oct 14 & 15 | Sina Queyras Double Header at the Banff-Calgary WordFest

October 14, 2011 - 4:30pm - October 15, 2011 - 2:00pm

It seems that Calgary's WordFest can't get enough of Coach House poet-cum-novelist Sina Queyras, whose debut work of fiction is slated for publication this fall.

On Friday October 14th, Queyras will participate in an evening Poetry Bash with the likes of Patrick Lane (Red Dog, The Collected Works of Patrick Lane) and Anne Simpson (Light Falls Through You), among others. Coach House poet Christian Bök will play host.

And if you cannot make this event (presumably because you are attending Suzette Mayr's reading at the Vertigo Theatre Centre, Playhouse) you can catch a Sina Queyras matinee on the Saturday following. She will be reading at the Brothers and Sisters showcase alongside of Canadian Patrick deWitt (The Sisters Brothers) and the UK's Sarah Winman (When God was a Rabbit), writers, who, like Queyras, offer insightful takes on sibling companionship, camaraderie, animosity and rivalry.

Evening tickets are $10 and $20, and the event begins at 9:30
Afternoon tickets are $7.50 and $15.00. The event runs from 2 - 3 p.m.
Thanks to onsite sales by Pages on Kensington, attendees will be able to buy Queyras's debut novel, Autobiography of Childhood, at the readings.
