The old Johannes Brahms
and the genius of Johann Strauss
which he admired
stand side by side in the photograph.

Under the score of the waltz
by the young Strauss
old Johannes wrote,
"Unfortunately not mine"
and I understood that.

What I do not understand is
why someone would
make that a caption
to go under
the two men.

The photograph is one
of my favourites
and when Johannes and Johann and I
read the caption
we reshape the past.
