And we’ll all go together
To pull wild mountain thyme
All around the purple heather
Will ye go lassie go

Before we are known
to write letters

when light is the dusk of sandstone

and quiet a dance to the hidden voice of mountains

the cool tongue of April calls

Oh the summer time is coming
And the leaves are sweetly turning
And the wild mountain thyme
Blooms around the purple heather
Will ye go lassie go

didn’t know you could fly did you
dissolve over emerald lakes

land    fingers through moss and loose earth

take my hand
I’ll race you to the edge    and lose
(only by a step)
and falling will never be so sudden fear
ice    and clear

your diamond tremble

I will build my love a bower
By yon clear and crystal fountain
And on it I will shower
All the flowers of the mountain
Will ye go lassie go

will tenderness let slip a lace secret of underbrush dew
coyote fade from the shadows of late campfire folk songs
look now
dawn comes a blend of last ember
the clear run of peak to stream

the trailing voice of an old story teller’s love song

Will ye go lassie go
And we’ll all go together
To pull wild mountain thyme
All around the purple heather
Will ye go lassie go
