Although firmly rooted in the real, Lillian Necakov's evocations of 'movie magic' prove irresistible in these 40 Poems & 5 collages. Ranging across dozens of films -- from Wim Wenders Wings of Desire and Jim Jarmusch's Down By Law to Hitchcock's Rope and Hawks's To Have and Have Not, -- Lillian Necakov's language, steeped in the comic of the banal, has absurdity for breakfast.

We all watch movies and talk about movies. Lillian Necakov does us all one better and WRITES POETRY inspired by movies, movie characters, movie makers and movie stars. The poems in this collection are sharp and affecting word-pictures, less glossy conscious-of-their-glamour movie stills than candid snapshots of cinematic figures caught by surprise as they step naked from the shower. This is powerful, disarmingly intimate, and just plain cool poetry.
