Girls, Eleven and Ten

Tonight one wanted to weep
and then the other came up too:
we lay naked on the bed, the three of us
and compared legs - their small thin ones
waving in the air next to mine
and we 'braided' them in a tangle.

- Days, and the house is filled with importance,
their breasts like something we planted.

They are little barques beside me:
I tickle their backs
and trace circles as I sing and we travel.
