A NOTE ON THE PAINTINGS
All the paintings are oil on canvas. Negative Thoughts Driven Out of the Mind, and First Word were painted in 1994, all the others in 1995. Negative Thoughts Driven Out of the Mind, Pancetta, Wonder Bread, Sifto, CLR, and ABC are 71 x 76 cm. The other twelve paintings are 56 x 61 cm. A NOTE ON THE TYPE I designed the type used for this book, Fones-Caslon, using Fontographer software. The capitals are based on the first sans-serif type which was issued by the William Caslon Letter Foundry in 1816 under the name 'Two-Line English Egyptian.' The original font never had lower case letters, numbers or punctuation. I added these and attempted to make them compatible with the Caslon capitals.
