The Ghosts of Jay MillAr "Why have we kept our own names? Out of habit, purely out of habit. To make ourselves unrecognizable in turn. To render imperceptible, not ourselves, but what makes us act, feel, and think. Also because it's nice to talk like everybody else, to say the sun rises, when everybody knows it's only a matter of speaking. To reach, not the point where one no longer says I, but the point where it is no longer of any importance whether one says I. We are no longer ourselves. Each will know his own. We have been aided, inspired, multiplied."
- Deleuze/Guattari

Jay MillAr was born in Edmonton in 1971 in the middle of the greatest cold snap the country has ever seen. Growing up in London, Ontario he made his way through the many parks and malls to be found there until the time was ripe for his departure. He has suffered through various forms of education, but would not hold them up as reference.

For the Landscape, and its Time, this is the true mentor, & we should take care to be alive within that space. How else shall we ever hope to discover the geography of the imagination?
He presently lives, writes, artworks & publishes (under the BookThug imprint) in the West end of Toronto (nice & close to the lake) with Hazel, their son Reid, & three cats. For the past six years he has held the position of writer-in-residence in a wood-lot located between the seventh & eighth concessions of Tilbury Ontario from April to October. Most recently he has been studying the poetry of mushrooms, bees, & mice within that environment. One day he hopes to report his discoveries.
